"Love your neighbor as yourself" (Mt 19:19). This puts us in a constant tension, because by nature we love ourselves.... But if we have within us that charity which by nature is divine, we can make real contact with the sufferings, concerns and joys of our neighbor. ...In this way we truly begin to live, otherwise human life will be very harsh and arduous and at times almost impossible to bear.
